Drexel Hill is home to many brick twins, Colonials, and older homes built in the 1940s–1960s. As homes are updated, older electrical systems may struggle with modern appliances, HVAC, and technology. JDV Electric helps homeowners upgrade systems, add capacity, and improve safety and functionality.
Many Drexel Hill homes were built when households used far less electricity than they do today. Original wiring, smaller panels, limited circuits, and older outlets can become a problem as homeowners add central air, appliances, home offices, EV chargers, and other modern electrical loads.
Whether you’re dealing with an aging electrical system or planning a home improvement project, JDV can help you address the immediate issue and plan for what your home needs next.
Electrical problems don’t always begin with an obvious failure. In an older Drexel Hill home, changes in how your lights, outlets, or appliances behave can be worth having checked.
Call JDV Electric if you notice:
If something doesn’t seem right, don’t guess at the cause. We can inspect the issue, explain what we’re finding, and help you decide what needs to happen next.
Drexel Hill has a distinct mix of established homes and newer electrical updates. Having a local electrician means having someone who understands the kinds of electrical issues that can come with that combination.
When an electrical problem comes up, having a local team serving Drexel Hill means help is close to home.

I contacted JDV to install a 50 amp line for an electric range. The line had to pass behind a 13' set of built in cabinets and wooden countertop that could not be moved. The cabinets were on a cement slab at the back of our row home. There was a slight access on one side of the slab through the basement. It seemed a monumental task to me. Piro (electrician dispatched by JDV) was on time to appointment. He was friendly, well-motivated and professional in all our interactions. I felt clear at every step along the way as to the work being done and why. There was no pressure to upsell on options. Piro stayed in contact with his management team along the way. The work was completed in a timely fashion on the first trip. The work was done well and with a guarantee. The office called to confirm my satisfaction with the work.

Yes. We regularly work on established homes where electrical systems have been repaired or updated over the years.
Not necessarily. A 100-amp panel may be adequate for some homes. If you’re adding major appliances, HVAC equipment, an EV charger, or other significant loads, we can assess your current capacity and determine whether an upgrade makes sense.
Repeated trips may result from overloaded circuits, faulty appliances, damaged wiring, or other electrical problems. A licensed electrician can identify the cause and determine what needs to be addressed.
The circuit may be carrying more electrical demand than it was designed to handle. We can determine whether the issue is the load, wiring, breaker, or another part of the system.
It depends on how the existing circuit is wired. Simply replacing the outlet doesn’t necessarily provide proper grounding. We can inspect the circuit and recommend the appropriate solution.
Often, yes. The right solution depends on the existing wiring and available circuit capacity. We can determine whether new outlets can be added safely or whether additional circuits are needed.
Possibly. A Level 2 charger can require a dedicated circuit and may place significant demand on your electrical panel. We can assess your system and determine what installation work may be required.
Renovations are a good time to address outdated wiring, add outlets, install dedicated circuits, improve lighting, and make other electrical changes before walls are closed.
Electrical systems are often updated in stages. An older Drexel Hill home may have original wiring in some areas and newer wiring in others. An inspection can help identify what you have and whether any sections need attention.
It’s worth considering if you haven’t had the system evaluated in many years, especially before a major renovation or when you’re experiencing recurring electrical problems.
Yes. If you’re dealing with an urgent electrical problem, contact JDV so we can help determine the safest next step.
