For our founder, Joe Voci, becoming an electrical contractor was never simply about building a career. It was about building a life around solving problems, working with his hands, and helping people feel safer and more confident in their homes.
After discovering his passion for understanding electrical systems, Joe trained at Orleans Technical Institute and became a licensed electrician in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware.
He then spent several years working for a large electrical contractor, where he saw an opportunity to do things differently. Homeowners deserved more than a transaction. They deserved honest recommendations, quality workmanship, fair treatment, and residential electricians who genuinely cared about their home.
So in 2005, Joe founded JDV Electric.
What began with a commitment to provide safe, dependable electrical service has grown into a trusted local electrical company serving homeowners throughout the region.

For JDV Electric founder Joe Voci, becoming an electrical contractor was never simply about building a business. It was about building something meaningful for the community he calls home. After graduating from Orleans Technical Institute in 2001, Joe spent four years working for a large electrical contractor before founding JDV Electric in 2005.
He saw an opportunity to build an electrical company around the principles that mattered most to him: treating people like family, acting with integrity, and taking pride in getting the job done right the first time.
More than 20 years later, JDV has grown from a small local business into a trusted residential electrical company, with more than 900 five-star Google reviews. As JDV has grown, so has Joe’s role. I contacted JDV to install a 50 amp line for an electric range. The line had to pass behind a 13' set of built in cabinets and wooden countertop that could not be moved. The cabinets were on a cement slab at the back of our row home. There was a slight access on one side of the slab through the basement. It seemed a monumental task to me. Piro (electrician dispatched by JDV) was on time to appointment. He was friendly, well-motivated and professional in all our interactions. I felt clear at every step along the way as to the work being done and why. There was no pressure to upsell on options. Piro stayed in contact with his management team along the way. The work was completed in a timely fashion on the first trip. The work was done well and with a guarantee. The office called to confirm my satisfaction with the work.
